Peña impresses at Titan FC

MIRAMAR, FL -- Luis Peña (11-3) only needed one round to pick apart former Bellator MMA fighter, Gustavo Wurlitzer (24-26, 1 NC). The former UFC fighter finished Wurlitzer at four minutes and 44 seconds with ground and pound. The 28-year-old eluded Wurlitzer during the fight, while successfully landing his own strikes.


After the fight Peña hinted towards his next fight coming with Eagle FC, saying, "come end of July I might be flying like an eagle." Like Titan FC, Eagle FC, led by Khabib Nurmagomedov, calls Miami home, meaning Peña would continue fighting in south Florida.


In the co-main event, Wendel Araujo defeated Sal Guerriero by majority decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-29). Araujo's (6-3) first fight in the United States spelled the end of Guerriero's (5-2) four fight win streak which consisted of all finishes. Guerriero and his fans displayed clear dismay when the scores were announced. Araujo expressed his interest in fighting for the bantamweight belt in his next fight.


Charles Rosa made an unexpected appearance, grappling Julio Cesar Chaves to a draw. Rosa said he learned of the match and agreed to grapple about two hours before the show.


Daiqwon Buckley (3-0) defeated the debuting Dai'kwon Fuse (0-1) in a split division. Buckley said he was not satisfied with his win and that he wanted to be better.


Olympic taekwondo bronze medalist, Robelis Despaigne (1-0) defeated Katuma Mulumba (0-1) with a first round TKO. Despaigne landed an uppercut that dropped Mulumba to the floor which led to the fight being stopped.


The fight card suffered many cancellations, including former UFC fighter Dean Barry dropping out due to hospitalization on the day of the fight.


Titan FC 78 is rumored to be set for July 28 in the Dominican Republic, however, that has not been confirmed yet.
